Getting ready for Easter

As if the year wasn’t flying by fast enough Easter is right around the corner! It’s time to send out some Easter cards and greetings! I love to include some Easter themed handprint and footprint keepsakes with my cards.

I absolutely love making handprint art. Seeing how tiny my kids hands and feet used to be makes me wanna cry, but also makes me very happy. You absolutely won’t regret having these keepsakes.

I recall with my daughter that I was so scared to do handprints With paint, I could just picture it all going wrong and it usually didn’t. It was just always in my mind. With my son, I find it very easy to do handprints and footprints with him. He likes the feeling of the paintbrush, so you might really be surprised at how easy making this keepsake can be.

gather your materials and get started

for this craft, I have supplied the link for printables but you can absolutely choose to make your own. Just look for the pink link below that says each theme.

You will want to print your printables on heavy card stock. I use acrylic paint to paint the child’s hand/foot with a paintbrush. At this point I usually have a handful of wipes right next to me for when we are done. If you have a very little child I recommend putting them in a highchair so they can’t move around very much. Place the hand or foot in desired spot and press down to ensure a good print. Try to lift the hand or foot straight off the paper.

If you didn’t get a great print you can always use a small paintbrush and touch it up!

Extra craft alert

In addition to handprints and footprints art I love make seasonal pictures with clip art!

These pictures can be very playful and lighthearted. Also a very cute keepsake.

Clipart photo collage

choose a picture to print of your child, pet , significant other or even a grandmother or grandfather, print the picture on card stock. Try to make sure that the picture is zoomed out. You don’t want a huge head for the design.

Personally I use Canva to choose different pieces of clipart and put them on a sheet to print. In this case, we are making ones for Easter so I chose some Easter baskets, lots of eggs, some chicks and crosses . you could print bunny ears to put on your child or make them look like a duck like I did.
