I absolutely love birthdays, and I think celebrating them is important. Everyone deserves to feel special on their birthday. When I had children Obviously, I kicked it up a notch and really put this idea of celebrating birthdays as a high priority.
We don’t really have much family in the area that we have big birthday parties. It’s usually very intimate with just my husband, the kids & I but honestly, I like it that way. Just because it’s small doesn’t mean it’s any less exciting or special.
Here are some fun & easy ways to celebrate & spread the birthday love! & bonus look for the free download in the interview section!
Birthday crown
Think Burger King from the 90s! This can be as simple as a hat from the party section. Adding some stickers, or making a paper crown with glitter or Pom poms make the hat more fun!
Special birthday shirt
Custom shirts can be found anywhere online, which is incredible. However, you don’t have to go scour the Internet for the perfect shirt. It can be something simple, even just using puffy paint on a shirt or cutting out some fabric and gluing it on a shirt . If you have your cricut you can make your own. Kids can choose to wear these shirts to school or not. I love getting pictures of them in their shirt every year. It’s just the cutest thing.

Bedroom door decoration
Decorations on a bedroom door can be very inexpensive, but make a big statement. Streamers, balloons & stickers are all great idea ideas. I also like to make a poster that has their age & says happy birthday and it says some of the things that we absolutely adore about them and what makes them special. Last year My daughter did not want to take hers off of her door. For probably half of the year she loved looking at that banner every day.
Paper chain countdown
Part of the whole birthday experience begins before the actual birthday. We love to use paper chains to count down and get excited about the upcoming birthday. As my daughter gets older she’s able to help me make the paper chain or pick out the color paper. Getting her involved helps her understand how much she is loved and that her birthday is a big deal & we’re excited to celebrate with her.
Birthday letter
A birthday letter can be a letter from a parent, a grandparent, aunts, uncles a cousin someone that’s special to them. They can help them remember special memories from the past year or help them recall a special moment that they had together. Such as the first time that they met and that they got to hold them. This is a very special letter that they can keep and hold onto for the rest of their lives. It feels special, knowing that someone took the time to write a letter for them and to show what kind of special connection that they have to each other.
Interview
I think interview questions are the cutest! Interviews are a great way to recall the things that happened last year & remember what their favorite color is or what their favorite thing is to do our favorite TV show. Depending on how old they are you can always throw in some silly questions. They’re really fun to look at over the years. If there’s room, I like to add a handprint because who doesn’t love seeing their hands grow. Picture banner
Those little face banners are a pretty big rage right now and let’s be honest they’re adorable. Who wouldn’t love to have their little face with a birthday hat on? What a great way to make them feel special & you can add a picture from each year to help them remember their past birthdays.
Photo shoot
Let’s face it every kids hates a photo shoot but it’s what everyone wants to see from their birthday. Put on that hat, t shirt or use a large balloon to get a little extra celebration in the picture! I like to use cute plates that have birthday designs on them & stick them to the wall as a background. A number ballon for the year they are turning is always cute.
Partied out
When it comes down to it, we all have birthday & no matter the age we are turning, we want someone to make us feel special in some kind of way. I hope that you can use some of my fabulous ideas to help celebrate your loved ones
